Series of vignettes set on each of the 9 worlds loosely held together by Thor jogging. Very amusing ( ) * I got this book for review from my honest thoughts* I though this collection of short stories was really cute. I really loved how this collection followed the minor characters in the magnus chase series and did not include magnus and it was such a fun read. I also liked how thor storyline was the connecting link between all the stories. I really found this to fun read and loved going back to norse world. * I got this book for review from my honest thoughts* I though this collection of short stories was really cute. It is my favorite series by Rick Riordan. This just wasn't up to standard though. The first person point of view didn't work very well. It felt forced and didn't show the characters' personalities. I think there were too many characters for Riordan to write them in first person convincingly. The short stories were mostly irrelevant and didn't have great plots. Most were random and didn't lead on to one another very well or really add anything to the series. Either what appeared to be a significant threat was defeated too easily (for example Alex's story), it wasn't resolved (Odin's story) or it was random and didn't really fit in the series (for example Amir's). Thor jogging was one thing done fairly well and really the only thing tying the stories together. The characters were out of character and the stories didn't really fit with cannon. For the first part this was partly due to the point of view being done poorly but the characters didn't fit with how they were in the series. I think this could have been a lot better if Riordan had used third person, kept the characters in character, used better plots and not used things that don't fit in the series. It was meant to show parts of the worlds not shown in the series and more about the side characters and add a bit more to the series. I think it could have done that if it had been written better. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
