McHugh, Elisabet. Raising a Mother Isn't Easy. New York: Greenwillow Books, 1983. This is a story about an adopted girl from Korea andher American mother. She wants her mother to find a nice man and get married. Her mother is a vetenarian and she has pets all over the house. She is also very disorganized and her daughter feels a husband would be a big help for her. The novel shows her struggles with wanting to grow up and with understanding that her mother must love the man to marry him not just his good qualities. In the end she learns more about her mother's heart when she discovers her mother's plan to adopt another Korean girl to be a sister for her. In this story kids will learn that a family is made of the people who love you best. Personally, I wasn't interested in all the pet scenes but it has a nice twist in the end. ( )
