Pinkalicious creator Victoria Kann presents twelve stories featuring her popular character in this anthology, eight of them originally published as part of the I Can Read early-reader series, and four of them as paperback picture-books. Selections include:

Pinkalicious: Cherry Blossom, in which Pinkalicious gets some unexpected help, when learning to fly a kite for the Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival.

Pinkalicious: Fashion Fun, which sees Pinkalicious and her friends creating their own fashion show during a play-date, making their outfits out of items found around the house.

Pinkalicious and the Pink Parakeet, which follows Pinkalicious and her classmates on a trip to the birdhouse at the zoo, during which they must rescue a very special bird.

Pinkalicious and the Sick Day, in which Pinkalicious is rewarded for her perfect attendance at school by being made honorary Principal, only to become sick on the big day.

Pinkalicious: Story Time, in which Pinkalicious meets the author of her favorite books, and is inspired to start writing herself.

Pinkalicious: Tutu-riffic, which sees Pinkalicious accidentally joining the advanced class, on her first day at ballet school.

Pinkalicious and Planet Pink, in which Pinkalicious and her brother Peter think that an alien from Planet Pink has invaded their home one night, only to discover that it is actually a kitten.

Pinkalicious: The Royal Tea Party, in which Pinkalicious throws a party for her unicorn friend, Goldilicious.

Pinkalicious: School Lunch, in which Pinkalicious' efforts to eat the lunch provided at school don't go quite as planned...

Pinkalicious and the Little Butterfly, in which Pinkalicious becomes attached to one of her classroom's caterpillars, following his progress as he becomes a butterfly.

Pinkalicious and Aqua, the Mini-Mermaid, in which Pinkalicious and Peter visit Aqua the mermaid, whom they met in Aqualicious, and are given a tour of her favorite seaside sights,.

And finally, Pinkalicious: Apples, Apples, Apples!, which sees the whole Pinkerton family going to the orchard for some apple-picking time, and then figuring out what to do with their bounty afterward.

As always, with these Pinkalicious books (which I am reading for a work-related project), I was less than impressed. I find the writing quite uninspiring, and the artwork flat and unappealing. I did like that Kann properly attributed the Cherry Blossom Festival in her first story to Japan, as I think there was some cultural confusion in her Pinkalicious: Soccer Star around this subject. Leaving that aside, there isn't much I can say about this one, other than that it is likely to appeal to determined fans of the character. ( )
