A sweet, simple story featuring a lively and original cast of characters just trying to care for their little one the best way they know how. My stomach bottomed out when Leo went for an unexpected swim, only to warm once again when the sea lion family welcomed this flipper-less little fellow into their harem (that's a group of sea lions, in case you didn't know!). I couldn't help but smile when little Leo and the sea lion pup were imitating each other, proving that while we're all different, we can still find common ground if we use our hearts. Along the way, his journey is detailed with many illustrations bursting with brilliant colors and delightful imagery that will dazzle the eye, while keeping you right in the story. In fact, don't be surprised if you find yourself barking along with Leo in unexpected moments of exclamation!

I got this for free from Amazon FirstRead. This was one of the 6 books that were free for download every month. The other books weren’t my type so I decided to download my first children’s book in a long long time.

The book is an easy read as a digital copy. I read this one on my iPhone kindle so I could appreciate the illustration.

I thought the story was heartbreaking. A little boy was lost in the sea and seals ended up saving him and raising him as their own. However, he was different from all the marine animals and he never felt like he belonged. One day he meets a little girl on the shore who looked the same like him. And all of a sudden he was on TV, and was rescued by a family. His biological parents eventually found him and they were happy. However the story doesn’t end there. The little boy feels out of place again in his human world. His parents try to make him happy but no matter what they did he just wasn’t. Eventually the parents brought him back to the sea (not to toss him and get rid of him of course lol) but to be together again with his seal parents and his human parents. And they were all happy in the end. ( )
