Emma and her grandfather have been on the run for thirty-six years, when the council tracks them down, he sends her to Redson's father for protection.
Redson isn't happy when Emma turns up looking for his father for protection but he's honor bound to protect her.
The majority of this story takes place in the confines of his underground den, there's a bit of drama about him considering asking another vamplycan to co-habitate and him mating with someone clearly more human than vamplycan but they get resolved with little fuss.
I liked knowing that there were good vampires out there and how well Emma advocated for her grandfather Malachi. I hope he has his own book coming and that maybe we'll see a faction of good vamps out there taking down the council. These two definately have chemistry, but sometimes the story felt a little forced. I kept expecting more action scenes than there was so there were little disappointments but I felt the ending was kick ass.
