Fiction. Literature. Romance. LGBTQIA+ (Fiction.) He'll love him in any lifetime. Neil isn't a ghost, but he feels like one. Reincarnated with all his memories from his prior life, he spent twenty years trapped in a child's body, wanting nothing more than to grow up and reclaim the love of his life. As an adult, Neil finds there's more than lost time separating them. Joshua has built a beautiful life since Neil's death, and how exactly is Neil supposed to introduce himself? As Joshua's long-dead lover in a new body? Heartbroken and hopeless, Neil takes refuge in his work, developing microscopic robots called nanites that can produce medical miracles. When Joshua meets a young scientist working on a medical project, his soul senses something his rational mind can't believe. Has Neil truly come back to him after twenty years? And if the impossible is real, can they be together at long last? Contains mature themes.… (mehr)

Neil remembered every detail of his life...HIS PAST LIFE! The thing that he remembered most was the love that he and Joshua had shared before he was killed by a truck...20 years ago. When Joshua returned to the research that he had spent his life dedicated to after his husband's death...he met the young researcher on a project that he was possibly going to fund. Joshua was stunned, but it was undeniable... he had not only found someone that looked like his Neil...sounded like his Neil...remembered things about him that only his Neil would know...but 100%, as impossible as it seemed, WAS HIS NEIL! There is now a 20-year difference in their ages, but neither man cared. There are so many things I loved about this story Joshua learned to love himself and accept himself, he learned not to wait. Neil was so much the past Neil even as a child, but he had never stopped loving Joshua or wanting him happy even if it meant that Joshua had married and lived his life with someone else. Now fate had given them another chance, and they were nor going to question it or waste one single moment. It doesn't matter if you believe in reincarnation or not, it still made for a fabulous love story with all the elements of wishful thinking with a dash of angst, and a lot of humor and ecstasy. ( )

A Word of Caution: Be sure to keep the tissues close...Multiple Boxes May Be Needed We meet Neal, a brilliant young scientist who is driven by his obsession with Nano technology. He makes a connection with Joshua, a sweet, uptight man from a conservative home who is trying desperately to live up to his family's expectations. How many ways do you think that could go wrong?? Neal and Joshua form a friendship that produces a slow burning passion between the two, but Joshua erects boundaries that resemble concrete barriers, around anything going too far. Neal should be qualified for sainthood for his patience waiting to go the distance with Joshua...driven by a passion he didn’t know possible outside of science. When a tragic accident shifts the balance of all their lives and what most people understand about our journey through life, the reader will need to hold their expectations of the life journey because the universe frequently has a different and better plan than we could have ever constructed. Whatever the readers beliefs are about the soul’s journey or about reincarnation, you may find that they are changed when learning the depth of commitment and passion the human spirit is capable of. 4.5 stars but rounded up because of my emotional response.

*Tissue alert* Yes, I cried. But not where I would have expected, however that is a problem I can't discuss without spoilers so I'll leave it there with the warning that you may need tissues when you least expect it.

Wow, that was great. It's a contemporary but it's not because it heads into the future, and starts in a present that isn't quite our own (unless nanites exist and no one has bothered to mention them to me). I have to confess I struggled with the first 15/20% as we jumped around in time, it gave everything a disconnect and I never truly felt the impact of Neil's death. I did, however, feel Joshua's grief. It was a tangible thing, as was Neil's frustration throughout his (second) childhood.

I loved all of the characters: grumpy Neil, Joshua in all his guises (innocent, grieving, happy, grieving, confused), sweet Lee (oh, Lee!), sex-mad Derek, campy Chris (oh how I want the story of how he snagged his farmer husband), and lovely, patient Alice.

Highly recommended. ( )

I'm a total sucker for reincarnation stories. Seriously. I'm not sure how I managed to miss this book when it came out. I was so happy when I found the audio on Scribd! I just listened to the whole thing in one go, and I'm not even sorry. Leta Blake's writing was great (as usual) and I really loved the characters. ( )
