Trinny & Susannah have advised and dressed more than 3,000 women. They know instinctively the finer points and secrets of looking good. In WHAT YOU WEAR CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE they pass on all their experience and advice. They show how to choose the colours that suit you best, what underwear to buy, how to store clothes and how to revamp your wardrobe at no cost. They recommend beauty and makeup products as well as alternative courses of action to fix problems. They give valuable hints on travelling, including how to pose to best advantage in those holiday photographs.… (mehr)

Skimmed. Doesn't seem to be much of substance here. ( )

I find this book both annoying and inspiring at the same time. It has some useful tips, but mostly what I take away from it is a more general reminder to try to look your best instead of settling for whatever happens to be in your closet. ( )

This book doesn't offer much, in my opinion. I picked it up at the library on someone's recommendation, but the only things that I found helpful were the color charts. Otherwise, the example outfits that they give are kind-of awful looking, regardless of how old one is. ( )

How on earth can you tell what is a big or a small bone? Well, the difference isn't enormous. We aren't talking brontosaurus excavation site versus wren skeleton here.

I think this is my favourite of the Trinny & Susannah books and it is certainly the most useful one since the original rules. As well as telling you how to decide what colours suit you and how to combine colours, there are useful sections about choosing flattering accessories and footwear, decluttering your wardrobe and packing for holidays.

But as usual, the best thing about this book is the photos. Looking at Trinny dressed in her normal clothes, you would never guess that she has such short stumpy legs (she mentions that although she is 5'11", she can still wear standard length trousers), but look at the picture at the beginning of the section on travelling and you will see the terrible truth! It has a strong section on color that will help you see color in a new way (especially if you tend towards wearing a lot of black). It shows how to wear a color with coordinates and an accent color: e.g., Grays - Charcoal w/dark chocolate, mushroom and shocking pink (accent). Also, different color families, e.g., Beiges - light tobacco, rose beige, warm beige, and mushroom.

We have no intention of writing our autobiographies so this book is the closest anyone will get to seeing inside the minds of Susannah and Trinny. (Introduction)
