This realistic fiction shows the true emotions kids might feel if they were to move into a strange new town where they did not know anyone. Although this particular story is not written as if it actually took place, they story is realistic and could happen to kids. The events that take place relate to a child’s life and show kids how they might deal with the same type of struggle.
A teacher could use this book for a student that might be struggling in the class with being in a new environment where they may not have many friends yet. This book could show students that they are not alone in their feelings, and that feeling lonely is normal when someone first moves.
The plot in this story contains all elements of a good plot and is engaging for the reader. There is conflict, having no friends, the action, looking for friends, and the resolution, finding friends.
