The first in a wickedly seductive new Scottish historical romance series from New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Enoch

HAPPILY-EVER-AFTER

London socialite Amelia-Rose Baxter is nobody's fool. Her parents may want her to catch a title, but she will never change who she is for the promise of marriage. Her husband will be a man who can appreciate her sharp mind as well as her body. A sophisticated man who loves life in London. A man who considers her his equal-and won't try to tame her wild heart ...

IN THE HIGHLANDS

Rough, rugged Highlander Niall MacTaggert and his brothers know the rules: the eldest must marry or lose the ancestral estate, period. But Niall's eldest brother just isn't interested in the lady his mother selected. Is it because Amelia-Rose is just too ... free-spirited? Yes. Brazen? Aye. Surely Niall can find a way to soften up the whip-smart lass and make her the perfect match for his brother for the sake of the family.

JUST GOT A WHOLE LOT HOTTER.

Instead it's Niall who tempts Amelia-Rose, despite her reservations about barbarian Highlanders. Niall finds the lass nigh irresistible as well, but he won't make the mistake his father did in marrying an Englishwoman who doesn't like the Highlands. Does he have what it takes to win her heart? There is only one way to find out ...

This hero was particularly likable, and I enjoyed their uncommon courtship. For quite a while after the hero appeared to be all-in, the heroine seemed kind of like she was dragging her feet, interested but not determined to actually try her damnedest to make it work. It made her claims of love later seem more questionable, 'if you felt that way, why did you wobble on the fence for so long??', but she eventually came around. The book did a good job setting the scene for the remaining characters, and I'm curious how their stories will play out. It was a bit slow in places, but overall enjoyable. ( )

*clears throat*

Eh. That's almost all I've got.

The tension was so good in the beginning and unbundled by the end. A brush of the hand had me on the edge of my seat but love declarations left me cold.

Shallow secondary characters just didn't add up too much for me.

So. Eh.2.5 I liked the beginning, but it fizzled out ( )

I received an eARC at no cost from the author, and I am leaving a voluntary and honest review. Thank you.

Review will be published on my blog, Romancing Romances, on the release day.

It’s Getting Scot in Here is the first book of a new series, Wild Wicked Highlanders.

In this first book, we meet the three MacTaggert brothers. And when we begin reading it (if you haven’t read the synopsis, that is), we don’t really know which brother is going to be the hero of this story, simply because it’s supposed to be the beginning of Cole’s story (the older brother). But, alas, Cole is not ready yet, and Niall (the younger brother) steps up.

Amelia-Rose is the sweetest girl, with a sharp tongue. An English rose, with thorns. The Scottish brothers are hoping to find only boring, malleable sassenachs, but on the very first night, they get Amelia-Rose. And Niall starts to fall in love in her right away.

Although not long passes between the moment they met and the moment they decide to marry, it’s not an insta-love story. And I’m glad, because I’m not the biggest fan of these stories.

Niall and Amelia-Rose go out, talk a lot, and we get to know them and see their chemistry grow more with each passing day. And more than that, we can see true love developing.

This was the first book I’ve read written by Suzanne Enoch, and it was delightful. A love story than keeps us interested, and engaged with the characters, and that makes us happy there are more books to come with this family. ( )

I love me some good regency and highlander romances! I love the time period. Fascinated by it, really. If I could be born in any era, it would be the regency era and live in either Highland Ireland or Regency England during that period. I mean seriously. The men of that time are to literally die for. I love their descriptions, I love their accents coming off the pages of the books, I’m just simply a regency lover. No doubt about it.

Sitting down to read Enoch’s first book in her Wild Wicked Highlanders series was an absolute joy. Enoch created a wonderful plot line and filled it with beautifully chiseled characters. She has a master talent for making them come to life, that’s for sure! Whewee! Those darling Scottish men…..yes please!

Niall and Amelia-Rose are wonderful characters. I loved seeing them together. Their friendship blossomed, and their love was just right. I loved seeing it develop and felt every spark of passion between them as if I was in Amelia-Rose’s shoes and Niall was my guy. Loved that feeling!

Enoch has definitely hit a home run with this 4 star book, in my opinion. It’s got the perfect blend of sass, romance, captivating characters and room for so much more with the next books in the series. These Scotsmen and their ladies have definitely stolen my heart for the long haul and I can’t wait for the next one.

*I received a complimentary copy of this book from St. Martin's Press and was under no obligation to post a review, positive or negative.* ( )
