As she begins her fifth grade school year, she is determined to become a soccer star. She works hard all year to harness her soccer skills and her creative writing.

REVIEW
I think this book is very easy to relate to. I remember reading this when I was in elementary school and I immediately identified with Abby because she had curly hair like me, played soccer like me, and liked to write like me. I think my favorite thing about this book series is that the author has some of the writing in the book as normal text, while other parts of the book are written in a fun font and imitate journal entries. There are even a few illustrations. I think something that is also unique about this book is that each chapter begins with a famous quote from one of Abby's calendar. It's a fun way for students to be exposed to the wise words of prominent figures or just some fun sayings. For example, the prominent quote in this book was "Every cloud has a silver lining." Students get to learn the meaning behind the quote as the story progresses and reaches its conclusion. ( )

It was a very creative book about a girl who constantly writes in her jounal. This book reminds me of.. well... ME!!! I think Abby Hayes is exactly like me except I don't collect calenders and I don't have curly red hair. (but I wish i did) It's almost as if Anne Mazer has watched my whole life and put an exciting twist on it!!! An overall GREAT book! ;P ( )

This is a book about a little girl named Abby who is trying to find her own special talent. Her other siblings all have talents so she wants to find something that she is good at. This would be a good book for fourth graders. This would be good for a English lesson where the students each write a page about there special talent and then we make a classroom book with all the special talents in the classroom,
