But the research is revelatory of such minor details! Blanche was born Mar 4, 1188, in the castle of Palencia,in Castile, the daughter of King Alfonso VIII of Castile and Eleanor of Castile. Eleanor was the daughter of Eleanor of Aquitane. Blanche married Philip Augustus' son, who became Louis VIII and reigned from 1223 to 1226. She was the mother of St Louis IX, and such of course is her main claim to fame. She died 3 P.M. on either Nov 26 or 27, 1252. and is buried at the abbey of Naubuisson--her gravestone was an enameled copper plate.
