One of the better Barrington Stoke easy reads that I have read : it is essentially three books in one. In the first book, Troy is shot during a terrorist raid in London that kills his parents. When he wakes up he discovers that he is bullet proof and although bullets can knock him out, they can't kill him. Troy is offered a position at a top secret government agency that combats terrorism and protects important people from being assassinated. He soon finds out that he is not the only one with special abilities as he joins a team of others who collectively make up the SPEAR outfit.
In the second book, Troy meets the beautiful mayor's daughter as one of his people to protect, has some falling out with members of his own team and falls into the hands of the major terrorist group who keep him alive but make him question who is really running their country.
The last book sees Troy becoming a boyfriend and discovering the truth. He also thinks that his bullet-proof abilities are starting to fade as one bullet opens up a wound on his leg.

Very easy to read with enough suspense and action to keep Yr7-8 boys entertained. ( )
