A very enjoyable novel featuring another outing for Detective Inspector Priest from Heckley C. I. D. This is the fourth installment in this very enjoyable series and has the customary smattering of dreadful jokes and almost painful wisecracking between the various detectives. However, like its predecessors it also has a very soundly-constructed plot and all of the characters are immensely plausible. I am definitely looking forward to the next volume in the series. Gehört zur ReiheCharlie Priest (4)
Detective Inspector Charlie Priest s day hasn t got off to a good start. Late for work for the first time in twenty years, thanks to a sloe gin hangover, he s faced with the rather grisly evidence of a crime in the local park before a call comes in to say that one of his new constables has discovered a body. Hartley Goodrich has been found dead in his armchair, right beside the flowerpot that caused the gaping gash in his head. There s little doubt that this was murder, and when Charlie discovers that Hartley s financial advice had lost his clients a small fortune, there s no shortage of murder suspects either. But is the case all it seems? The enquiry re-opens an investigation involving diamonds, drugs and stolen gold bullion . . . and plenty of danger to boot." Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |

This particular entry opens with Charlie being called to a suspicious death. The deceased was a financial advisor and very quickly it becomes known that this advisor caused many of his clients to lose their life savings in a poor investment scheme involving diamonds. The trail leads the police to a father and son duo of drug dealers and an unsolved gold bullion heist.
Last Reminder flows evenly and the story is interesting. The characters are well drawn, the author supplies sub-plots that feature both other police business as well as Charlies’ on-going struggles with his romantic relationship with Annabelle Wilberforce. All in all, Last Reminder was solidly entertaining and I look forward to continuing on with this series in the future. ( )
