Frances Crane wrote a long series of crime novels from 1941 to 1965 featuring Pat and Jean Abbott. The first two of these have been republished by the Rue Morgue Press, this being the second in the series. A nasty old woman, head of an extensive family,is found dead in bed. A small town with many characters. A good to even better dad but the explanation at the end left something to be desired. It had too much from outside teh story to explain motivations etc.
Interested in teh central characters, and having one later in the series, I would be very interested in how their development over time.
