This is a wonderful guide to calligraphy, which, as the book explains, is different from cursive. Cursive is a form of handwriting created to allow humans to write quickly and efficiently without having the lift the pen very often. Calligraphy is more of an art form, and each letter is distinct from the last with the pen lifting after every single stroke the way an artist might lift a paintbrush after he has made a stroke.

This calligraphy book teaches the art quickly and efficiently, and after only a little study practice using less than half of the provided pages, I am now able to use the dictated modern calligraphy font proficiently. My only complaint is that the pages are thin (they're about as thin as normal printing paper), so when one practices with a calligraphy pen or with even a marker on the given pages, it will bleed through a little.

However, this book is extremely effective, and I've gotten wonderful results from it. I now implement the calligraphy I learned in my course notes, daily planner, letter writing, and Bible journaling. Overall, I would recommend purchasing a copy of this if YouTube tutorials and Pinterest fonts haven't been enough to prompt you to truly learn modern calligraphy for yourself. ( )
