Juliet and the Reverend are getting married, and Bailey wants everything to be perfect for them. Bailey is the maid of honor, and also has the honor of making a special wedding cake, complete with marshmallow frosting. It’s a concern because the heat of the day makes the cake, the center piece of the outdoor reception, unstable. But the shock of the day wasn’t the cake falling and covering Bailey who tried unsuccessfully to stop it, it was the drunken accusations of an uninvited guest. Jethro the Pig caused the cake to fall, but the words shouted at the Reverend may cause his fall from grace as this upset woman threatens to expose a hidden secret he has kept from long ago in his past life. It’s always fun to visit this series, and yet there is a serious side to the stories as well. It’s a good mix, entertaining yet thought provoking, and well done. Another fun read about Bailey, her grandmother, Aiden, Juliet and, of course, Jethro. These books make me laugh out loud. This one has Juliet getting married and, naturally, things do not go totally smoothly, no matter how hard Bailey tries to manage things. The mystery was well handled and the murderer was more of a surprise than I expected. I look forward to the next and hope that this series continues for a long time. Bailey King is prepping for the marriage of Juliet Brody (her boyfriend's mother) and Reverend Brooks - she is the maid of honor as well as being responsible for the wedding cake and walking Juliet's pot bellied pig, Jethro, who is serving as the ringbearer, down the aisle. Everything seems to be going well until a strange young woman interrupts the service to call the groom a traitor. What was he accused of betraying? The young woman is found murdered on the church steps the next day and after discovering that she was an Amish girl who had been shunned, Bailey feels the need to find who killed her and why. I love this eries and the interactions of the English world with the Amish. The details that are related have been educational as well as entertaining. Love the characters and the setting! In this book, Juliet finally marries Reverend Brook, but the next day a body is found on the doorsteps of the church by our heroine, Bailey King. She gets involved in solving the murder involving the Amish and moonshiners. She is also pig-sitting Juliet's pig, Jethro, so that is fun and leads to the discovery of a still. Her friend, Cass is in town so she gets involved in solving the murder. Bailey's relationship with Aiden progresses in spite of an old girl friend of his who reappears. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

The series is starting the flag, I think, but I like the characters juuuuust enough to stick with it for at least another book. It’s starting to show the shoddy signs of too-long running cozies, though: repetitive writing, sloppy/clunky phrasings, overexplainings. *sigh* ( )
