Fiction. Literature. Romance. HTML:"Foster convincingly brings her characters to life against the idyllic backdrop of Kentucky farmland. This down-to-earth romance will especially appeal to animal lovers."??Publishers Weekly on The Somerset Girls
No one knows you quite like a sister...
Summer in Sunset, Kentucky, means long, hot days??and sometimes surprising new beginnings. Through it all, the ties of sisterhood will be there, guiding Autumn and Ember to the lives, and loves, they need...
When they're running the animal-rescue farm they inherited from their grandparents, Autumn and Ember Somerset are perfectly in sync. At all other times, not so much. Dependable Autumn would rather curl up with a good book than paint the town red with Ember. After the disaster that was Autumn's last relationship, it's pure self-protection. But when her high school crush comes back to town with his adorable young daughter, igniting memories best left forgotten, there's only one person Autumn can turn to...
Beneath Ember's free-spirited facade is a layer of deep hurt. She'll gladly nudge Autumn toward a second chance. But risk her own heart? Not likely. The closer Autumn gets to her own happily-ever-after, the more Ember wonders what she might be missing??and if it isn't her time to be bold, too.
Don't miss The Little Flower Shop, an all new heartwarming summer read from New York Times bestselling author Lori Foster about a 40-something florist who, with the help of her meddling small town, gets a second chance at life and love.

Can you imagine running a farm animal rescue?

Me either... but that's what Autumn and Ember do when their grandparents leave them one. They take on the challenge of doing just that - running the farm animal rescue, which takes in all animals of all sizes! The sisters are just as different as the animals they are working together to care for and each finds themselves working through their issues.

This quick, light, fun read kept me smiling and laughing. Highly recommended for anyone looking to bust out of a reading slump or for someone who loves animals!

Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read this and give my honest opinion! ( )

Autumn is an interior designer, she's the reliable, steadfast sister to Ember who is the beautiful, wild child, who is the builder in the family. I loved these sisters, while family dynamics are not always easy these two always have each others backs.

In this story you get not one but two romances, an adorable little girl who is overcoming abuse with the help of a dedicated loving father, charming rescue animals and a bevy of interesting characters that make for a charming, warmhearted read.

Autumn has crushed on Tash since high school and when he returns to town with a traumatized daughter in tow, her heart is lost to both of them as she redesigns their space.
Ember is still suffering a year after losing her baby and works hard to not let it show but their farm handy man Mike sees through it all and is determined to reach her.

While most of the story is devoted to Autumn, Tash and Sadie there's plenty to enjoy of Ember and Mike's story, as well as their crazy parents. If your looking for a feel good romance, you won't be disappointed.

Sisters Autumn and Ember Somerset work together, live side-by-side in a duplex-style home, and hang out together in their free time. Autumn is a designer, Ember is a builder. Both sisters also run an animal rescue on their family farm, which they inherited from their grandparents.

Each sister has her own romance storyline, and I think they're really good. There is a low amount of angst and the love interests are respectful of Autumn and Ember, which I think is super swoony. One of the love interests has a 7-year-old daughter, Sadie, that ends up with a great storyline of her own. Sadie's scenes made me smile because she's such a cute little kid.

I love the animals on the farm and the ones featured in the rescues in the story. There is a family dog that the sisters share and he's adorable. I think the thing I loved most about this story is the relationship that Autumn and Ember have. They genuinely love one another and they want the best for one another. Each sister gets happy and excited when good things happen to her sister, and likewise they both are angry or protective when the other one feels pain. I kept waiting for the sisters to have a Big Bad Thing happen to nearly injure their relationship, but nope, not in this story. The sisters' quirky parents also play a big role in the story, which really emphasized the importance of family. After finishing the book, I tend to think that Autumn's story is the prominent one in this story, but I genuinely enjoyed both sisters' storylines equally.

I had never read anything by Lori Foster before, despite owning several of her previous books. This one was a perfect read for me. I sat down with my digital copy yesterday morning and the entire thing in one day.

Thank you to Harlequin publishing for sending me a free digital copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for my thoughts in the form of a review! ( )

The Somerset Girls by Lori Foster

    Sisters are special
    They care and share
And sometimes run a business or two together
They lend a shoulder to lean on
    They give advice
They share details of this and that and
They fight from time to time
No matter what…they are there for one another
    Always

I adored Autumn and Ember and loved reading the story of how both found their happily ever after. This was a story filled love, compassion, heartbreak, heart healing, family, animals and romance that lead to love.

    What I liked:
    * Autumn: strong, resilient, reliable with “strong bones” – quieter than her sister, compassionate and a catch…just ask Tash
    * Ember: stronger than many give her credit for, smart, capable and not necessarily the “free spirt” she has been labeled.
    * Tash: my oh my…a man, a father and a lover par exemplar and absolutely perfect for Autumn
    * Sadie: Tash’s seven-year-old daughter that brought light, life and love to many…human and farm animl.
    * Mike: another man that was a great catch and worthy of a Somerset sister – Ember to be exact.
    * Tracy & Flynn Somerset: parents of Autumn and Ember and a lot more than they appeared to be at first – ended up loving them both
    * The back and forth between Ember and Mike
    * The rescue animal theme – have rescued a few animals myself but have not created a rescue sanctuary for them.
    * The fact that both Autumn and Ember were strong women in demanding jobs, had issues from their past to deal with and came out better at the end of the book than they were at the beginning.
    * Everything really except…

    What I did not like:
    * Chuck: Autumn’s fly-by-night fiancé that left her before the wedding – that said…she was much better off without him.
    * The poor animals abandoned…hate being reminded that so many are in need

Did I enjoy this book? Definitely?
Would I read more by this author? Yes, as soon as they are made available!

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin for the ARC – This is my honest review.
