#1 on Amazon Charts, New York Times Bestseller, USA Today Bestseller--Over 100,000 Copies in Print! "Kent Heckenlively and Judy Mikovits are the new dynamic duo fighting corruption in science." --Ben Garrison, America's #1 political satirist Dr. Judy Mikovits is a modern-day Rosalind Franklin, a brilliant researcher shaking up the old boys' club of science with her groundbreaking discoveries. And like many women who have trespassed into the world of men, she uncovered decades-old secrets that many would prefer to stay buried. From her doctoral thesis, which changed the treatment of HIV-AIDS, saving the lives of millions, including basketball great Magic Johnson, to her spectacular discovery of a new family of human retroviruses, and her latest research which points to a new golden age of health, Dr. Mikovits has always been on the leading edge of science. With the brilliant wit one might expect if Erin Brockovich had a doctorate in molecular biology, Dr. Mikovits has seen the best and worst of science. When she was part of the research community that turned HIV-AIDS from a fatal disease into a manageable one, she saw science at its best. But when her investigations questioned whether the use of animal tissue in medical research were unleashing devastating plagues of chronic diseases, such as autism and chronic fatigue syndrome, she saw science at its worst. If her suspicions are correct, we are looking at a complete realignment of scientific practices, including how we study and treat human disease. Recounting her nearly four decades in science, including her collaboration of more than thirty-five years with Dr. Frank Ruscetti, one of the founders of the field of human retrovirology, this is a behind the scenes look at the issues and egos which will determine the future health of humanity.… (mehr)

Well written. Very interesting. With all of the constant commercials about drugs and lawsuits, makes you wonder ( )

This is an important book, though I admit I did not understand much of it.

I owe my small comprehension of the book mostly to Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.’s Foreword.

Judy Mikovits, one of the most skilled scientists of her generation, collaborated with Dr. Frank Ruscetti in studying retroviruses and changing “the paradigm of HIV-AIDS treatment, turning the disease from a death sentence into a manageable condition”.

Mikovits always placed her scientific integrity ahead of personal ambition. When she discovered UpJohn’s formula for Bovine Growth Hormone could cause precancerous changes in human cell cultures, she refused direct orders to hide her discoveries. She discovered that the “ubiquitous” presence of the hormone in milk could lead to breast cancer in women who drank it. Her “war on BGH” eventually led to Upjohn abandoning the product.

Mikovits and Ruscetti discovered a strong association between a previously unknown retrovirus and chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS). The retrovirus was also linked to certain blood cancers.

Mikovits found evidence for the retrovirus in approx. 67% of women afflicted with ME/CFS: When Mikovits and Ruscetti published their findings in the journal “Science” in 2009, describing the first-ever isolation of the retrovirus XMRV and its association to ME/CFS, their revelations “triggered angry reactions from jealous cancer power centers, stubbornly resistant to science that attributed cancer and neuroimmune diseases to viruses”.

Many of the female patients afflicted with XMRV had children with autism. Mikovits found that 14 of 17 children she tested had the virus. This was very troubling to the medical establishment.

Research also found widespread XMRV contamination in the blood supply and blood products. From 3 to 8 percent of the American population now carry the virus.

Mouse tissue used in vaccine production was the likely “vector” for human contamination.

Co-author Kent Heckenlively had already published research showing that the first recorded outbreak of ME/CVS was among 198 doctors and nurses at the Los Angeles County Hospital in 1934-1935 after their ingestion with an experimental polio vaccine grown in mouse tissue.

Mikovits’ evidence “threatened financial catastrophe for the world’s pharmaceutical companies, because of their negligent use of animal cell cultures to produce vaccines and other pharmaceutical products”.

An entire branch of medicine called “biologics” which depends on animal tissue and products put billions of dollars of revenues at risk.

Judy was under surveillance – menacing-looking men followed her in pickup trucks. In one incident, thugs surrounded her home, forcing her to flee in a boat. The police arrested Judy without a warrant and held her in jail for five days without bail. Her house was searched by police from top to bottom; her papers were strewed everywhere.

No charges have ever been filed against her but a campaign of vilification was launched against her by the pharmaceutical cartel.

All this is just a fraction of what Judy has been through.

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. states “This account by Judy Mikovits and Kent Heckenlively is vitally important both to the health of our children and the vitality of our democracy.”

I too found the book vitally important. It exposes the vast corruption in science. It is a depressing book.

Judy states that she wrote the book in order that science be guided back to its founding principles.

But I have to say that I stopped reading the book before I finished it; there was no point in continuing as I simply could not comprehend it. I think perhaps you might have to be a scientist to do so. But certain factors are clear, corruption in the field is rife and vaccines are deadly dangerous.

Excellent read! Judy Mikovits 2nd book explains for the common person all of her great work, and bravery for the truth always. Have not heard anyone including her confirm this... but I do believe she saved Magic Johnson's life =) ( )

3 stars for the writing. 4 stars for the content. Important information. I'm fortunate to be exposed to this information.

The way the book started off is is almost unforgivable though. They tried to hook you in like this was a thriller novel. All the straight forward discussion in the book was very good. The sensationalizing was unneeded. ( )
