Fantasy. Fiction. Romance. LGBTQIA+ (Fiction.) HTML:

Imprisoned pickpocket Loth isn't sure why a bunch of idiots just broke into his cell claiming they're here to rescue the lost prince of Aguillon, and he doesn't really care. They're looking for a redheaded prince, and he's more than happy to play along if it means freedom. Then his cranky cellmate Grub complicates things by claiming to be the prince as well.

Now they're fleeing across the country and Loth's stuck sharing a horse and a bedroll with Grub while imitating royalty, eating eel porridge, and dodging swamp monsters and bandits.

Along the way, Loth discovers that there's more to Grub than meets the eye. Under the dirt and bad attitude, Grub's not completely awful. He might even be attractive. In fact, Loth has a terrible suspicion that he's developing feelings, and he's not sure what to do about that. He'd probably have more luck figuring it out if people would just stop trying to kill them.

Still, at least they've got a dragon, right?

A funny fantasy m/m romp that honestly had me grinning for most of the story. The leads were lovely and I adored them both. Their merry band honestly reminded me a lot of T.J. Klune's "The Lightning-Struck Heart", in all the good ways, and I liked their character dynamics.

There were what appeared to be some minor continuity issues with how Loth views the world but that might be down to different drafts/this being the work of two writers.

Overall, a cute, funny story. Look forward to book 2. ( )

Humorous fantasy romance!

Very often, novels meant to be humorous don't work for me, or stop working before the end. This one stayed amusing, though it moved toward sweeter humor as our MC grew up a little bit.

I enjoyed all the characters, I enjoyed the plot and the worldbuilding which is presented as fact rather than detailed much. It made for enjoyable reading and I recommend this with only the following warning: I am convinced one of the authors knows and despises someone named Scott. If you love someone named Scott, try not to take it personally. ( )

I really enjoyed this fun, light-hearted story! The adventures of the motley cast of characters and their ridiculous banter had me laughing out loud. The MCs’ romance could’ve used a little more development, but I didn’t mind too much.

Thank you for your recommendation, Rachel! I had so much fun reading this. ( )

This was a fun and ridiculous read. The authors took a lot of tropes from classic fantasy such as Dungeons and Dragons (which is even referenced under a hilarious alternative name) and turned it on it's head, adding in a lot of sex and banter. If you need something more light-hearted and funny but still want a sweet romance with a plot, a definite recommend. ( )

This was the funniest fantasy novel I've ever read, and not like anything else I've seen. Amid all the crude jokes were real emotional moments and kind characters. It never go too serious and nothing bad dragged on. I loved everything about it. ( )
