Set in the 20 sided sorceress world. Was a good intro to the characters I think, will definitely read the next one ( )

Antiheroes aren't my thing, and Kira definitely falls into that category. Also, does anyone ever call her on her "absolute rules" that get broken over and over? The first story is a short, kind of establishing what she does and who she is - she doesn't even follow her own rules. Though she does have a moral sense to give her reason to break them. The rest of the book is one story with a lot of ramifications - it starts with a stalker and goes on to a mob family, a wolf pack with a rogue Alpha, and a lot of in-family hatred (well-earned, in both cases, but it's interesting to see it show up twice). Success, the hard way (of course - can't kill her off in the first book). I don't much like the epilogue - she kind of got to choose, and kind of didn't. And phrasing it the way Kira did sounds rather too much like quid pro quo. Overall - rich if rather nasty story, very interesting characters, and I'm at least a little interested in reading the next one. And also in finally finishing the Twenty-Sided Sorceress series - I started but stalled out early on, and the cross-connections between this story and that series are drawing me back in. Quite a few typos, mostly of the missing word variety, but nothing that impeded the story. Worth reading, and I'll see if the rest of the series pulls me in. ( )
