"Meet Leda Foley; Devoted friend, struggling travel agent, sometime psychic. When Leda, proprietor of Foley's Flights of Fancy, books Seattle PD Grady Merritt on a flight back from Orlando, she does not expect it to change her life. When Grady watches the plane he was set to travel on catch fire while he remains safely in the airport, he seeks out Leda, and despite her rather scattershot premonitions, he enlists her help in investigating a cold case he just can't crack. But Leda has her own reasons for helping: her fiancé Tod was murdered under mysterious circumstances several years ago. Her psychic abilities weren't good then, but now she's been honing them at her favorite bar's open-mic nights, where she draws a crowd klairvoyant karaoke-singing whatever song comes to mind after holding other patrons' personal effects. With a rag-tag group of bar patrons and friends, Leda and Grady set out to catch a killer-and find that the two cases that haunt them may have more in common than they think"--… (mehr)

Leda Foley is a travel agent with light psychic abilities, who incidentally saves the life of a homicide detective. He enlists her help to solve a recent murder case which has hit a dead end, and she agrees…if he’ll help her look into the unsolved murder of her fiancé 3 years ago.

Very fun. This is a bit of a departure for Cherie Priest from her usual horror, steampunk, etc. but her clever and breezy writing shines through. I loved all of the side characters, and Leda & Niki’s friendship, and really really loved the idea of psychically figuring out what song people want to hear as a way to show off / practice / hone her powers. It’s voluntary, totally harmless, and can’t be faked. However, despite the great writing and worldbuilding this is still a police procedural. Detective Grady is by-the-book, doesn’t abuse his power, and ensures Leda doesn’t overstep. But it’s just not my favorite genre. ( )

Cozy mysteries should come with warning labels. I realized how boring this book was at around 50%, but I didn't have anything else I felt like reading, so I continued. When I finished it, I realized that it was a cozy mystery, which explained the long and irrelevant descriptions of bars, traffic, driving, coffee shops, and parking locations in Seattle, where the book is based. Most cozy mysteries seem to include long descriptions of food, especially baked goods, which are far more interesting than how long it takes to drive across Seattle and find parking. Which leads me to wonder if Seattle residents find comfort in their horrible traffic and parking options? Then I started wondering, given the author's other books, if this book was just shoehorned during editing into a cozy mystery. The mystery part of this story was interesting enough, but got lost in what was really just a story about trying to find parking. No exageration here: The climax of the story was entirely built around the main character not being able to find a parking spot near the bar. ( )

I think this was a fun cozy mystery and i liked the concept of a travel agent who has to solve a case with a poilce officer. It was very much a solving read and not a "active in the moment case" it was alot of a leg work and talking and less on the action side of the cozy mystery. I thought the case was fun but like it feel when i watch crimet.v shows all the side characters were a bit 2D and it was hard to remember who was who!! But i am exicted to read more books in the series!! ( )

This book is dedicated to my sister, Becky Priest Santavicca.
She didn't have anything to do with writing it and none of
the characters are inspired by her or anything like that. I
don't even know if she likes mysteries. But the other day I
complained about running out of people to dedicate books
to, and she called dibs on this one, so I told her I'd do it.

I bet she thought I was joking.
