Fiction. Romance. LGBTQIA+ (Fiction.) Save the bees, ride a rock star. Formerly famous . . . and planning to keep it that way. After my band kicked me out, I ran away to Vermont, changed my name, and kept my head down. So far, it's working and nobody knows who I am. Or who I was. Until I see geeky poet Caleb stumbling through his first open mic night and I can't help rescuing him. He's as sweet as the honey my bees make and sexy enough to make me rethink so many things. But I can't tell him my secret, or I'll lose the anonymous life I worked so hard to build. Everyone warns me he's too good to be true. I can't believe a gorgeous, successful winemaker like Tag is into shy, geeky little accountant me. But he helps me blossom and believe in my talent, and works his way into my heart and my bed . . . not necessarily in that order. I'm falling for a man for the first time, and now I know what the missing number in my equation has always been. When lies are revealed, though, someone's going to get stung . . . Not my favourite Vino and Veritas but good enough to finish. This is my 8th of 19 Vino and Veritas novels and I'll definitely keep reading.

Isn't this cover good?! I don't comment on covers often, dismissing them as little more than clickbait and probably not related to the enclosed story, but this guy is an idyllic yet highly believable image of Caleb, with his blond curls.

While Caleb is a sweet earnest guy, full of yearning for excitement, commitment and love, there is almost too much fairytale about this story...and predictability.

I feel disappointed. Even though, in the beautiful environment of the meadery, the Vermont countryside and the charming bar and bookshop, how could I feel flat?

Tag is your typical Vino and Veritas hero, an ex rock star who makes a new life with bees and winemaking. Caleb is a huge geek, in the broadest sense of the word, in that he is not your typical young man diving into sex and casual relationships. He's the opposite. He is himself, unsullied, and knows what he wants enough to maintain that path till he's 26 ... and suddenly out of nowhere, and at his most vulnerable, he finds Tag.

Wikipedia defines geek as "a slang term originally used to describe eccentric or non-mainstream people; in current use, the word typically connotes an expert or enthusiast obsessed with a hobby or intellectual pursuit", so it is this former meaning that described Caleb.

Tag has done it all and now withdrawn from success, fame, and relationships, preferring his honey, his dog, and the quiet busy life of a farmer. Though he doesn't reveal much of this journey to Caleb.

The chemistry between the two is fantastic but I think without this cover image of what Caleb might look like, I couldn't easily get on board with his boyishness, his naivety, his giggling wonderment at the beautiful Tag, and likewise, Tag's besottedness with Caleb. Greg Boudreaux doesn't help, so expertly creating his vision of Caleb by narrating him in a higher register.

The major charm of this novel is that these two are equally captivatied by the geekiness of the other - they see the adorable guy before them - it hits both of them at their core. As a reader below says, they are made for each other. ( )

I am sad this series is ending - it has had some wonderful stories but I think this is one of my faves.

Tag and Caleb - opposites attract but it just works. E Davies has written a beautiful story full of heart felt emotions and moments.

Just love for this read! ( )

A cute quick little story of a slightly innocent, young poet and an honest, handsome, recluse, secret hiding, mead maker. These two were made for one another, now all they had to do was trust one another with their pasts and keep it together. They marched to their own beat and decided for themselves what would make their relationship what each of them wanted and needed. Both are lonely...only finding each other through a luck of the draw happenstance. I wish Caleb would have stood up more for himself to his brothers and that Tag could have been brave enough to tell Caleb about his past. Overall...a short, sweet story with two lovable guys, some lovely little mead making bees and an over excitable beautiful dog, making it simply feel good and sweet. ( )

I love the World of True North that Sarina Bowen has created so I was beyond thrilled to find out that other authors would be writing books set in this world. E. Davies is a new author for me and I look forwards to reading more books by her. The Vino & Veritas series has been a fun read from to start to these final few books.

Caleb and Tag were sweet characters with a sweet and uncomplicated story. I did enjoy this book even though it was rather light and predictable. It really was a wonderful beach read which is where I read it.

I am so sad that this batch of Vino and Veritas titles are the final ones in the series because I have enjoyed them so much. I am very glad to have read them as it introduced me to a whole new set of authors I can add to my TBR pile. I am sure there will be more books set in the World of True North and I cannot wait to read them. ( )
