I have no words…
except I was thoroughly entertained the entire time. I totally get all the people who love this and I totally get the people who hate this.
I don’t know what else to even say. It’s a lot.

This is 100% not for everyone. Please check trigger warnings because it’s rough and I assume the next book will be worse… but here I go. ( )

This book started out slower than I expected but, now in hindsight, I'm glad. It built the anticipation and mystery of the book. I loved the mystery of GiGi's story unfolding as I was getting more and more invested with Zade and Eddie.

The anticipation and push/pull, cat & mouse games between Zade and Addie was everything. The things that came out of Zade's mouth were things I shouldn't like but I loved it. He's over the top and delicious. I love what he stood for and what he was fighting against. I loved how his fight against the Society is what tied everything together. Eddie was a believable heroine. It could have been easily non believable or turned cheesy had she been anything other than what she was.

This was a great first book. It ended on a whopper of a cliffhanger and has me jonesing for the conclusion. I'll be on the lookout for the next book.

Even though this discusses some awful topics, I liked that the author stayed true to the story. She didn't give frivolous details but also left no doubt as to what happened. Don't let the triggers steer you away. ( )

This was one of 3 books shown to me when my friend introduced me to smut at 13. This was obviously the worst. If it ain't yo it ain't yo book. ( )

Ok, hear me out. It was originally going to be a 2⭐️
Starting the writing was just downright cheesy, "He has a jawline that could cut diamonds". I mean really? I laughed way too loud and way too long.

Adeline seriously pissed me off to start. "No way I'm going to be an idiot and drop the knife"... Ma'am!! Bad decision after bad decision, being an idiot and then saying you're not going to be an idiot. Really? Yes, some stuff was F-ed up, but her attitude kept pissing me off.

And Zade is way too full of himself. "It's not cockiness, it's just a fact."... Sir, can you just be a regular human being? Like, honestly? Why is it so hard? It's totally possible to be a badass without constantly fluffing lol

So why change it to 3⭐️?
Well, after all of that, I thought, you know... for a dark romance, it did its job. It's dark, all the trigger warnings, spicy-ness and smut-ness are all there. It checks all the boxes of a dark romance.

Story-wise, I was totally invested in Gigi's story and some of the work Zade was doing, hence why I upped the rating too. I would also argue to label this as a 'Horror,' but maybe that's just me.

I know some people are totally against this book and some scenes are all the red flags and all that, but look, Adeline was into it, and I am not going to judge her kinks. I wasn't feeling the romance/connection at all; if anything, I was judging these characters for being WAY too extra and cheesy. I won't be reading the second one.

Personally, I need a couple of hallmark or historical romances to cleanse my palate lol
