I liked this book a lot. It was really enjoyable, cute and super adorable and a very short and quick listen too. This was a unique perspective about snow angels and such that reminded me of when I use to love doing snow angels and wondered about angels when I was a child.
The narration on this was wonderfully done and added to the story bringing the characters and the world to life even more. This was a fun audiobook and the narrator was fantastic for this. The narrator really portrayed the childlike wonder, joy, humor, awe, and happiness perfectly in this story.
This story is about a little girl who wakes up in the middle of the night one night and she's not sure why and then she sees this snow angel in her room talking to himself. The snow angel introduces himself to the little girl named Sylvie but he's upset because she can see him and he says she's not supposed to be able to see him. He tells her he was sent there to save her life, to help her, and then when she's better she shouldn't remember him, but she does. She starts to think about and remember him all the time and tries to find a way to get him to reappear to her. Then she tries to find him, get him to reappear so she can get his help with getting a wish granted. Sylvie has to get her snow angel to appear so he can help her to make it so everyone can make sure they have their own snow angels to watch over them. It's a lovely, heartwarming, and adorable story that's especially perfect for this time of year. I can't gush about this enough and recommend that you put it on your list and make sure to read it when it comes out!

Beautifully written story about a guardian angel who watches over children. The writing is equisite and the illustrations leave me breathless. The pages move from realistic to ethereal seamlessly. I can't wait to gift this to a loved one. ( )

A little girl's snow angel comes to protect her by alerting her mother when she is sick with a fever. Once recovered, Sylvie remembers the angel's intervention, even though she is not supposed to, and tries to get it to come back, but it only returns when she truly is in danger. At last, she asks the snow angel to grant a wish: to make it snow, so that she can tell everyone to go out and make a snow angel, for they all have someone to watch out for them and protect them.

Wintry but not specifically Christmassy, a magical story with lovely illustrations for the holiday season or just winter in general. ( )

Winter dreams swirl with warmth in this beautiful tale, which will have readers curling up under a blanket of fairy tale goodness.

Sylvie can't believe her eyes when a white figure enters her bedroom in the middle of the night, whispering to itself as if confused. When she speaks to it, the wonder increases...on both sides. After all, humans shouldn't be able to speak to their snow angels and, definitely, not see them. After the angel explains its origins and it's important duty to protect her, it informs her that she's sick. When her fever is discovered, it leaves with the reassurance that she won't remember it the next day. But the angel is wrong; she does remember.

I already was drawn by the cover on this one, and it's only a taste of the lovely illustrations inside. The magic (or as the angel claims, science) of each scene comes across with the right atmosphere and allows the reader to sink into Sylvie's world.

The text makes this a great read-aloud. While those readers, who are more sure of their words, can also dive into this one, it's perfect for a holiday or bedtime read, too. The text is longer and holds a more traditional, fairy tale atmosphere. The writing style also fits this style..at least, during the narration and description sections. The dialogue, however, has a more modern flair, which hit me a little odd, at first, especially with the snow angel. Yet, it made the angel that much more realistic and sympathetic. I can imagine that the audio book version of this one is especially a treat. The dialogue does add a bit of humor and really lets the characters' beam from the pages.

The tale itself has everything a good story should have. While I was afraid this one might concentrate on Syliva's illness, that's only the very beginning of her adventure with the Snow Angel, and is by no means the main thrust of the book as it only hits a couple of the pages. Let's just say her snow angel has his work cut out for him.

There is the wonderment of the impossible, a bit of sadness, hope, a tiny bit of tension, and the question of what will happen at the end mixed with a vivid sense of longing. It leaves with a sense of mystery, and yet, rounds things up enough not to feel incomplete...and all of that with a sense of happiness and hope. In other words, it's a very lovely story and not just for the holiday season.
I received a complimentary copy and loved getting lost in this magical tale. ( )
