My only downside is: Sometimes it was difficult to define who is speaking to whom and the constant instant travel from place to place was . . . no, felt super chaotic. I absolutely adored this book. It's book 1, so be aware that the conclusion leaves you hanging. I was perched on the edge of my couch and unwilling to move until I was done. The protagonist is an elf named Raena who has spent her entire life hiding behind mortals' clothing and pondering who she truly is.

She is forced to flee from everyone and the one person she has been able to rely on while hunters pursue her. She must decide whether to trust the individuals she meets because she has no idea where to go or who to trust. She winds up in the Mortal King's Court, the one place that might test her the most. Can she, however, keep her secret a secret?

I'm hoping for a happily-ever-after ending that sees love and family reunited.

This book had a lot of potential, but could do with a good deal of editing. The premise was very interesting, but I found it hard to follow the different characters and who was talking. Also, some parts seemed to go very fast and some parts were slow and there was a lot of jumping around. I liked the main character, but overall I just found the writing itself a bit of a slog.

Let me just say that this book has a lot of plot twists and I loved it!
I really like this book and would suggest it to everyone.
I can't wait to see where this series goes. ( )
