I have been waiting for Range's story ever since I met him through Canyon in Wolfsbane. Back then, Range was a lovesick, tender-hearted puppy who meant well but constantly felt less than his older brother. Here, in his own book, Range is a honed and well-trained operative, spurred by justice and compulsion to finish every mission well. He's definitely grown up, but still has a lot of self-doubt and bitterness to overcome in regard to his family. His counterpart, Kasra, is a deeply layered woman with a painful past and a generous heart who sacrifices constantly for others.

There is an overarching theme of taking down a global trafficking ring throughout the series, so there are sensitive topics addressed here. The action-packed, adrenaline-fueled plot where Range and Kasra must dodge those hunting them through villages, mosques, and sea propels the story seamlessly. Range and Kasra's banter is truly delightful, even if it starts out with mutual disdain and hatred of each other. I loved seeing Canyon and Dani again, as well as the other Metcalfe family members.
