She vowed he would never hurt her again. He hides his pain behind a campaign smile. Harrison Coulter is in the spotlight. Rumored to be the next candidate for governor, there is just one problem - the people won't elect the most eligible bachelor to the state's highest office. He needs a wife, but he isn't looking for love. There is one woman from his past though... Poppy Bloom has roots as deep as the produce she grows on Bloom's Farm. When her livelihood is threatened and she finds herself helpless to make a difference, Poppy agrees to a proposal she never saw coming. Old feelings blossom into something new, but their individual goals clash with the promises made to each other. How will God use this marriage that was strategized instead of starry-eyed to open them both to the power of love?… (mehr)

Well, this was a breath of fresh air! It would appear that I have a new favorite of this series.
My first thought of this was something along the lines of, "Oh Poppy, why?" and her choices made for quite the interesting read.
I really liked the message of standing up for what you think is right even when others try to tear you down. Also it was nice that the story wasn't political even though Harrison was a politician. :)
One think I would have liked to see more of was flashbacks and funny stories of Poppy and Harrison when they were kids. It kept on mentioning that they were friends but I was missing the backstory that makes the story more believable. And as you know, everyone loves the strange and awkward situations memories bring up.
So all in all, I enjoyed this story and found it to be a fun and light read.
Rating: 4/5

Romance: kiss x 3

*I received a copy of this book from the author. All thoughts are my own and a positive review was not required. ( )

Poppy's Proposal is the newest installment in the Bloom Family series by Tara Grace Ericson. I have grown fond of visits with this large family living in a small rural town in Indiana. This story centers around Poppy and Harrison. They actually went to high school together and Poppy had a huge crush on Harrison. Poppy came back to her hometown to help run the family farm and Harrison went on to law school and became a state senator. Harrison wants to run for governor and his advisors suggest a wife will help him win that campaign. He reaches out to Poppy and you'll have to read the book to find out how all that works out for them.

In most series I have read, each book picks up where the last one left off. One thing that I really enjoy about this series and is quite unique is that each story is told on the same timeline. Each book centers around one of the Bloom siblings and gives his/her perspective on some different family events and happenings as well as telling his/her own love story.

I really debated between 4 and 5 stars for this read. If I could, I would give it 4.5. This is a marriage of convenience romance. Although, I think this author made it more believable than others I have read, that is a trope I don't tend to enjoy as much as some of the others. It made it much more believable because Poppy and Harrison did know each other in the past and Poppy had feelings for him at one time.

I would most definitely recommend this series to readers who enjoy clean, faith-based romances. Although this can definitely be read as a standalone, I would take the opportunity to meet Hawthorne and Daisy in their stories before reading this one.

I was given an advanced copy of this story by the author. All opinions expressed are my own. ( )
