The poems in the book "Almost Late to School..." are about students in school and the multiple things that they do when they are there. The first poem is about the first day of school and how they student likes it but doesn't want to stay there. The next poem is about a student being late to school. These are like little snippets for the students to read so they can get a feel of school. Most of these poems relate to them anyway so its good read about it. Or maybe it could be something just for them to think "Oh, I'm not the only one that goes through this." But all in all, I like the book of poems about school. ( )

This book by Carol Shields is full of poems about being late to school. The poems are funny and all people who have been to school can relate to one of them. The illustations are colorful and graphic. I would use this book in my classroom as an ice breaker, I would read it to lighten the mood, and use it as introductions into lessons becuase it covers so many topics. ( )
