I have read many books by this author and loved each one. Now that she has ventured out into a new genre I am so impressed and applaud her for the exceptional transition from one genre to another. It is without question that this new series is one that makes you think. The world is not the same after destruction happened and the author vividly described what it may look like if this became a reality. The storyline is very good and easy to follow. I love the setting that is in Texas since I call Texas home.

To think that everything has changed for the characters in this story is unimaginable at times. Their strength to survive is powerful and when obstacles come they join together as a group to keep everyone together. What would it be like to have no food, no technology, not even electricity?

Akule and her family are the center of this story. What a challenge faces this family as they travel to find Akule’s brother and his family. The adventure is filled with danger as they encounter other groups who are not all friendly. I can’t imagine having to walk for long days always on alert to get to safety.

What I really like about the story is the close connection the group has. They meet challenges together and never give up. The story is an Illustration of trust and will power and a little faith. The author makes you feel like you are a part of the story as each scene is powerful. The need to go home after their journey is what drives them and keeps them going. They have seen many things on their journey, but coming home was where they would find safety and peace.

I received a digital copy of this book from the author. The review is my own opinion. ( )

I have read each of the Kessler Effect books so far and that has been an amazing tale! I have become a fan of dystopian thanks to this author. This was a book that makes you think of what could happen and how would you survive under these circumstances. This book has no dull moments. It is hard to imagine a world that has come under such a situation as to have no communication, and all that we have come to accept as normal life. I found it interesting how they had to depend on one another and how they had to determine who could be trusted and who was not to be trusted.
OK, this was a great read. And I don't want to give too much away, so am just saying, you will not be sorry that you read this. The author has talent!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts are my own. ( )
