"From "one of the genre's most exciting voices" (E! News) comes one of the year's most-anticipated thrillers. For the past five years, Ryan Richardson has relived that terrible night. The car door ripping open. The crushing blow to the head. The hands yanking him from the vehicle. His girlfriend Ali's piercing scream as she is taken. With no trace of Ali or the car, a cloud of suspicion hangs over Ryan. But with no proof and a good lawyer, he's never charged, though that doesn't matter to the podcasters and internet trolls. Now, Ryan has changed his last name, and entered law school. He's put his past behind him. Until, on a summer trip abroad to Italy with his law-school classmates, Ryan gets a call from his father: Ali's car has finally been found, submerged in a lake in his hometown. Inside are two dead men and a cryptic note with five words written on the envelope in Ali's handwriting: If something happens to me... Then, halfway around the world, the unthinkable happens: Ryan sees the man who has haunted his dreams since that night. As Ryan races from the rolling hills of Tuscany, to a rural village in the UK, to the glittering streets of Paris in search of the truth, he has no idea that his salvation may lie with a young sheriff's deputy in Kansas working her first case, and a mobster in Philadelphia who's experienced tragedy of his own. In classic Alex Finlay form, If Something Happens to Me is told by several distinct, compelling characters whose paths intersect, detonating into a story of twist after pulse-pounding twist. The novel cements Finlay as one of the leading thriller writers today"--… (mehr)

Alex Finlay’s "If Something Happens to Me" is a gripping thriller that captivates from the start. The story follows Ryan Richardson, who is haunted by his girlfriend Ali’s disappearance five years ago. Just as he tries to move on, Ali’s car is found in a lake with two bodies and a cryptic note. Ryan's quest for answers takes him across Europe, intertwining with a young sheriff's deputy in Kansas and a grieving mobster in Philadelphia.

Finlay masterfully weaves multiple perspectives and locations, creating a fast-paced narrative filled with unexpected twists. The well-drawn characters and vivid settings add depth and urgency to the suspense. This novel is a compelling read that solidifies Finlay’s place as a top thriller writer. Highly recommended for fans of the genre. ( )

If Something Happens To me is Me by Alex Finlay in one hell of a fast-paced edge-of-your-seat page turner of a thriller. Told from several different POVs, three timelines, and set in various cities and countries, it sounds convoluted, right? And I won’t deny it kinda is. With so much ground covered, it seems hard to figure out how all the many storylines would, or even could, come together but, somehow, Finlay not only makes them coalesce but also makes them believable. Through the use of short chapters and paragraphs, the story moves at a galloping pace and rarely let’s up, slowing only occasionally to allow the reader time to catch their breath. This is definitely the kind of book you do not want to start when you have any other commitments because, trust me, once started you will not want to put it down for anything as mundane as sleeping or work.

I received a arc of this book from Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press in exchange for an honest review ( )

A page turner that kept me interested until the very end.

Ali and her boyfriend Ryan are excited to spend time together. They were supposed to have a nice date but it was interrupted by a thunderstorm. Once inside the car, something terrible happened in seconds. Then in the morning, Ryan is outside on the wet grass. The car is gone. So is Ali.

After five years of Ali’s disappearance, the car she was last driving in is found in a lake with two dead men and Ali’s purse. Inside the purse, there is a note written in code. And that's how it all started again.

Book packed with actions and turns. Short chapters of suspense, character-driven and gripping from the very first page. Very mysterious to the point that it sounded unrealistic but I didn’t mind as I was completely invested in this story.

This was a very good and interesting book and I look forward to reading more of Finlay's books in the future. Definitely a must-read for thriller fans. ( )

When Ryan’s high school girlfriend comes up missing, he is the prime suspect. As he grows older, he changes his name and even goes to law school. He tries so hard to stay incognito. So, when her car is found in a lake and two unknown male bodies are discovered, Ryan’s world implodes.

Ryan has always been in love with Ali. So, he knows what he must do when a deputy sheriff from Kansas reaches out. And let me tell you…the surprises just keep coming.

This book keeps you on your toes. There are so many ways this story could have unfolded. My brain was going a mile a minute with scenarios. I love when an author keeps the story twisting and turning. This tale definitely does that!

The narrators, Helen Laser; John Pirhalla; Paul Dateh, are the absolute best! I have said this before and I will say this again, I absolutely love a production in an audiobook!

Need a good thriller which will keep you guessing…THIS IS IT! Grab your copy today.

I received this novel from the publisher for a honest review. ( )

This is one thriller that will cure couples of going parking in deserted areas! When Ryan and Ali are parking one night someone opens the car door, knocking Ryan out and taking Ali. Five years later, Ali is still missing and Ryan is still dealing with the aftermath.

The story takes readers to Tuscany, Paris and a small village in the UK, as well as Kansas and Philadelphia in the United States. From small town law enforcement to the mob, readers will slowly discover what really happened the night Ali was taken.

I would have never imagined all that transpired in this book. It was one exciting read and one of the best thrillers I have read this year!

Many thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press, Minotaur Books for allowing me to read an advance copy. I am pleased to offer my honest review and recommend this to other readers. ( )
