Susan May Warren has written another exciting adventure set in Alaska. We get another peek at a few characters from Sky King Ranch and meet more wonderful ones to go on rescues with in this untamed and unpredictable wilderness. It starts out as a funny riff on a show many of us have watched where a survivalist takes a famous person out into the wilderness to see how much they can handle. This time it is country music star Oaken Fox whose publicity manager signed him up. Oaken isn’t happy, especially because the opening scene has him jumping out of a helicopter. But of course something bad happens on their adventure and Air Force One has to rescue them. That encounter opens a door for Oaken to learn about Air Force One and maybe get some film footage for his manager. The person showing him the ropes at Air Force One is Boo Kingston and she’s not happy about it or about hanging around this cute guy. Boo has her own story and it’s why she’s in Alaska keeping a low profile and not interacting with the other members of her team. There is also an undercurrent of evil weaving its way through book one of this series that leads to the next novel. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series. ( )

Ahh, I'm excited for this new series by Suzie May! I honestly wasn't sure about this one, especially since celebrities/musicians aren't always my favorite. I ended up loving the adventures and characters in this one!

I enjoyed meeting the crew of Alaska Air One, and look forward to reading more of their stories and adventures soon. I adored seeing the day-to-day life as well as some of the more dramatic situations they deal with as part of the Alaska Air One rescues they conduct.

The suspense, mystery, romance, and friendships were spot-on in this one, and yet again Susan May Warren takes readers on an incredible ride! Action-packed but not without a good balance of character growth and wholesome scenes sprinkled throughout! ( )

Where have I been? This is my first book by Susan May Warren and I can’t wait to read more! I devoured One Last Shot in a day. It’s that good! Full of suspense, romance, forgiveness, and second chances, this book kept me quickly swiping my Kindle until the end. And the Alaskan setting made it even more exciting.

Oaken Fox is a handsome Country Music star carrying a lot of baggage. After a fight with a fan, he heads to Alaska to participate in a survivalist adventure show hoping to rehabilitate his image, but when his guide is injured, the show’s producers convince him to stay on and train with Air One Rescue as part of a reality show.

EMT Boo Kingston’s a rookie with Air One Rescue tasked with training Oaken. She’s definitely not interested in another handsome hotshot who’ll break her heart like her ex from the reality tv show she was on. But, the more she’s around Oaken, the harder it is to resist him. When several young women go missing in a snow storm and with a potential murderer on the loose, it’ll take all their ingenuity and strength just to stay alive.

I loved the slow burn romance between Oaken & Boo. They’re both running away from past mistakes and things they need to confront in order to move on. Both let guilt consume them & insist on carrying their burdens alone. I loved how they learned to work together, trust each other, and find forgiveness. And those kisses!

The Air One Rescue team grabbed my heart. I enjoyed how they all supported each other and welcomed Oaken into their group. Their intense, daring rescues kept me on the edge of my seat. They were so realistically portrayed and described that I felt like I was there right along side them.

I also loved the way faith and forgiveness were woven throughout the story. Several members of the Air One team including Moose & London offer sage advice I found myself underlining. I also loved the humor. Ketchup wars anyone?

Highly recommend this intense, swoon worthy, romantic suspense! Now I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the author. All opinions are my own and voluntarily provided. ( )

Alaska Air One Rescue book #1

Oaken Fox, a country music star, wants to boost his fan base and joins survivalist Mike Grizz’s new adventure show in the Alaskan wilderness. It didn’t take long for tragedy to strike and have Air One Rescue on site, the experience was enough for Oaken call it quits but his producer has other plans for him...On the other side, Rookie EMT Boo Kingston is there to keep Oaken safe and is assigned to his training and safety.........and the story goes on when five women goes missing and Air One team uses all the skills to find them, Oaken needs to step up and be part of the team.

No lack of action in this one. If you like search and rescue activities in a mountainous environment you will be very happy with this story. We learn about ascender, carabiners, tension, knots and the many techniques used for a safe rescue. The narrative is very active I felt I was there with each step the characters took. The tension in vivid and intriguing in some ways, we never know what will happen next. Sure way to keep us turning the pages and interesting in the drama. Yes drama there is attraction between Boo and Oaken, tragedy: people getting lot or hurt, threatening others, you name it, you will find it here. What I like the best is the camaraderie played out between characters. They mess with each other and will go to no ends to help.

“One Last Shot” is all about ones last chance to start all over again, putting the past behind, forget and forgive and to look forward to a new beginning. Boo and Oaken’s characters show us how this is possible...

Another great series from Susan May Warren! Ties in with characters from other series which I love because I enjoy getting updates. Exciting, thrilling and keeps you guessing. I feel like there will be more to come in future books about some of plot lines because some things were left unanswered. Good start to an awesome series! Can’t wait to read the next one, One Last Chance in May. ( )
