Actual play reminded me far more of the old-fashioned Choose Your Own Adventure approach than it did of any of the Arkham Files games or, say, Four against the Great Old Ones. After the introductory passage 1, most segments leading to the next choice are short, rarely more than a couple of paragraphs or a page and a half at most. My first session lasted well under half an hour, and it had a pretty pedestrian failure outcome, but it did give me a glimpse of some more elaborate puzzles that I had come up against only glancingly. In the entire play, I had only one test that required a die roll to resolve. I acquired a clue (but no opportunity to use it), a couple of items, a couple of secrets, and a weakness.
The other two investigators included in the book are boxer Nathaniel Cho and reporter Rex Murphy. Additional 'gator sheets are on the Aconyte website: letter carrier Stella Clark, student Amanda Sharpe, and ex-con Skids O'Toole.
