Toni Morrison has collected a treasure chest of archival photographs that depict the historical events surrounding school desegregation. These unforgettable images serve as the inspiration for Ms. Morrison"s text--a fictional account of the dialogue and emotions of the children who lived during the era of "separate but equal" schooling. Remember is a unique pictorial and narrative journey that introduces children to a watershed period in American history and its relevance to us today. Remember will be published on the 50th anniversary of the groundbreaking Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court decision ending legal school segregation, handed down on May 17, 1954.… (mehr)

This is such a great read for students who are studying about accepting all people no matter who they are. We are all on the same road, just trying to make it through life on our own paths. It has a great way of implementing The Journey to School Integration not only through the words but also the pictures that are shown and the stories that are told. Good read for 4th-grade - middle school ( )

Intermediate. This book takes you on a journey recounting what is was like for black children during the Civil Rights movement when segregation of schools was just ending. This book is a great way to talk about racism in the US because it uses real pictures from the Civil Rights movement, and the fact that it is told through the eyes of a child can be very relatable to your students.

"Remember" is a collection of real-life photographs that were taken during the Civil Rights Movement. The pictures tell a story by themselves without any captions needed. In the book, Morrison describes informational facts that were happening during this time, as well as some of the feelings the individuals in the photographs may have been thinking or feeling.

Wonderful photos that capture many elements of the Civil Rights movement with a focus on both black and white people working together to better the society they live in. ( )

This book is dedicated to Denise McNair, Carole Robertson, Addie Mae Collins, and Cynthia Wesley, who died in the racist bombing of their Birmingham church on September 15, 1963. Things are better now. Much, much better. But remember why and please remember us. Their lives short, their deaths quick. Neither were in vain.
