A thought. witty children's book about Sts. It is a book that will repay many return visits for adults, as well. Kathleen Norris, the well-known poet and essayist, makes these ancient Christians come alive in new and insightful ways,. The illustrations remind one of frescoes from the early Christian period.

This biography of two holy saints, Benedict and his twin sister Scholastica, is very well written. It gives an overview, appropriate for the elementary grades, of the lives of the saints. The illustrations feature several vignettes on each two-page spread, telling the story in pictures in harmony with the text. ( )
