She Had Some Horses remains my favorite, but some beautiful pieces in here. Loved A Postcolonial Tale. I'm ever grateful to my sister for introducing me to Harjo, she deserves endless accolades. ( ) Harjo's collection of personal mythology and family legend reflects her Native American heritage, with modern application of legend. Beautiful weaving of language and image to haunt the reader long after they put down the slim volume, highly recommended. Her language is available to the novice poetry reader as well as the more advanced. Zeige 3 von 3 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
Auszeichnungen
Joy Harjo, one of this country's foremost Native American voices, combines elements of storytelling, prayer, and song, informed by her interest in jazz and by her North American tribal background, in this, her fourth volume of poetry. She draws from the Native American tradition of praising the land and the spirit, the realities of American culture, and the concept of feminine individuality.
