A clever debut about love, sex, and everything in between, for anyone who's ever fallen for a friend (come on, admit it) Sam is a teen boy who's attracted to both boys and girls. He doesn't know what to call himself or where he fits in. Then he meets Toby, another boy who likes both boys and girls. Are they destined to be just friends, more than friends, or less than friends? And what would happen if they were attracted to the same girl? Love comes in many shapes and sizes. Sometimes all at once. In his brilliant, funny, and heartfelt debut, Eddie de Oliveira shows us there's more to life than being a wallflower or being knocked out by nunga-nungas.… (mehr)

I liked this book as soon as I started reading it, I didn't think I was going to love it, mainly because the description seemed a bit off. Turns out that like so many other books, the description was completely unrelated to what actually happened. Basically this book was made for me. One of my favorite sports (football/soccer) was at the center of this novel. Sure, it's about a boy who doesn't know how to deal with the fact that he's bi, but it's also about soccer and, well, it works perfectly. Don't read the inside flap or the back, just read the book. Susan says: I thought that this book about a bisexual Londoner whose best friend is also bisexual and they both want the same girl would be too racy for the teen room. But instead it’s almost too boring for the teen room. Sam (the main character) spends a lot of time in the toilet, thinking things through and trying to figure himself out. And this is the problem – he keeps thinking he likes boys and girls, but he never gets beyond the flirting stage with anyone. I guess my experience of kids coming out is different than this, and I am not sure this book really rings true. He doesn’t even try to kiss anyone, and while he has had girlfriends in the past, he doesn’t have one at this time. It’s sort of a navel-gazing book, and by the end, that got hard to read. ( )
