This book is about a lion named Leo, who takes advantage of his title as king. He is very lazy and does not help people in his kingdom. When the other animals get tired of the way Leo is acting, they take away his power. Leo is not happy about this and tries to do little acts of kindness to try and gain their respect back. When the animals finally figure out that Leo is behind all of these acts, they give him his crown back.
This is a great book for a classroom because it teaches the lesson that not all acts of kindness with go noticed. Somethings will go unnoticed and that is okay because you know that you did something good. ( )

Leo was a selfish lazy Lion king, and none of the animals enjoyed his rule. Leo did not care, but eventually the animals took his position away. Leo was sad and he realized that he never did anything for the animals, and he saw a mouse that needed help .Leo helped the mouse, helped a rhinoceros, and a porcupine. Once all of the animals saw this, they decided to make Leo their king again. I liked the theme of the book because it reminded me of the importance of helping others, and that there are others who are less fortunate. This would be a great book because it explains to students that cooperating with others is very important. I would assign students to help other students in some type of problem that is difficult to solve. ( )

Leo, the lion, is a very lazy lion. He is also King of the Beasts. However, the other animals did not think that Leo had earned his right to be their king. All the animals' agreed that Leo must give up his throne. After Leo had done a few good deeds to his fellow animal friends all the animals' gathered at the watering hole and decided that they wanted Leo to be their king again. Leo turned down the crown and throne and said that he was an animal just like them! A teacher could read this story to her/his class when talking about kindness. ( )

How Leo Learned to Be King is a good book for teaching children how to treat others and not to be selfish. Leo the Lion was a selfish king whom no one in the whole jungle liked. He learned his lesson and then everyone in the jungle had respect for him.
