This was one of my daughter's favorites. ( ) Julius Lester and Jerry Pinkney teamed up to rework Little Black Sambo, rescuing it from its racist past. Young Sam is a fun and spunky hero, and the book is full of humor. In the afterword, Lester reminds us that the original story was never set in a real place - it is in a fantasy world, and Lester and Pinkney embrace that, setting the book in Sam-sam-sa-mara, where everyone is named Sam. A fun and creative story. Summary; This book is about a family thats all named Sam but the little boy Sam is the main character, In this book Sam goes shopping for new clothes and buys from fictional animal characters different colored clothes. Showing that it doesn't matter what he wears as long as he likes it. He comes across tigers that want to eat him but in exchange he gives up each piece of clothes that he just bought for saving his life but towards the end he gets all his clothes back in a happy ending. This is a must read book! great book showing to never judge a book buy its covered, if read to students I think the teacher is ultimately trying to promote that racism isn't allowed and diversity is embraced great book! keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
