Fast-paced, exciting mystery story with resourceful heroine and a satisfying conclusion. I was surprised that this was written in 1999 because of its very dated portrayal of IVF ("test tube babies") as somehow sinister or potentially making a person not really a part of their family. I would have guessed early '80s. But I really enjoyed the book.

Also to all the teachers out there who assign their students to write a review on Goodreads--you are creating a lot of half-hearted or inaccurate reviews of books. That's all. ( )
