Summary: This book is a large anthology of poets and painters that represent an element of Texas or what it means to be a Texan. The poems include many great topics related to Texas; deserts, ice cream, Native American art, the music that is famous in Texan and the people of Texas. Separated into loose categories the art and poetry in this book don't all follow a typical form or style, rather each is rich in its own element.
Review:I want this book as a coffee table book. The short poems within have simple joys woven into them. The artwork could stand on its own and be fantastic, but when combined with the poetry the whole package is very cool.
School Use: This book could be used in a read aloud activity. The students could flag their favorite poem and then take turns reading their favorite poems from this collection.
