This is a good overview of all the really, really bad stuff that Bush did. There are two weaknesses that keep my number of stars down: (1) I don't agree that 'murder' is the correct charge, and (2) book needs to be edited down for size. Goes on much, much too long. I have to say that the key thesis, that Bush could be tried for murder, is questionable. My view is that Bush should be tried for aggressive war and war crimes a la Nuremberg. The problem with the thesis that Bush lied, people died, therefore guilty of murder, overlooks that if Bush lied, but the war was justified, then the case for murder falls apart. Let's suppose that we should be overthrowing dictatorships on general principles. (I don't agree, but stay with me.) Let's suppose that Bush lied about the WMD. Still, if going to war was justified, then Bush is guilty of something, but not murder. We could easily imagine Roosevelt, in his speech to Congress after Pearl Harbor, telling some lies. Maybe he exaggerates the number of dead at Pearl Harbor, maybe he even covers up his own administration’s complicity in allowing the attack on Pearl Harbor to happen. Would that make the Second World War an unjustified war? Not necessarily -- in fact most people would say that even in these circumstances, the war with Japan itself was still justified. In that case, Roosevelt was guilty of something, being dishonest to Congress, etc., but not necessarily of murder just because people died. Lying in itself does not make the invasion of Iraq wrong. So what he really wants, and needs, is a war crimes trial. ( )

I just wish it would happen.

Bugliosi is a master at getting his point across and this book is every bit as good as Outrage. The writing is perfectly paced. Some may complain that Bugliosi gets too emotional but that's what makes this a great read. ( )

Major indictment of George Bush for his part in getting America involved in Iraq. Bugliosi pulls no punches, but also provides no alternative viewpoints. ( )
