Tell Es-Sa'idiyeh is one of the most significant cemeteries ever excavated in Jordan. This is about your standard 1960s site report, sadly published in 1980. It's unfortunate that Pritchard's team didn't make use of an osteologist to sex the skeletons, something easy to do even in those days. It does little to set the cemetery in the cultural milieu of the time -- much can be said anthropologicaly based on cemeteries -- though it does a decent job of describing most finds (especially pottery, but sadly less so things like beads) and citing parallels. One looks forward to Jack Green and Jonathan Tubb's report on the renewed site excavations; it should be much more exciting than this. ( ) keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
A portion of the Tell es-Sa'idiyeh mound was used for burials during the Bronze Age. A summary of the pottery types is followed by a description of the contents of each of the 45 tombs. Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
