I love it when the Doctor visits Earth history and even more when a historical figure is involved.

The author’s portrayal of the Doctor and Donna was excellent! The storyline was great and kept me captivated. I loved the involvement of Gandhi and the doctors involvement in his love. ( )

A story with the Doctor and Donna will always be a winner for me. In this one, Donna declares that she could murder a curry, so the Doctor decides to take her to India, where she’ll be able to get a real one. But his timing is off, and they’ve landed at their destination in 1947—a tumultuous year, to say the least. And adding to the historical tumult is an invasion force of ghostly, half-made men who steal people in the night. This sounds like a job for the Doctor, Donna, and Gandhi.

Overall, this was a good story. I enjoyed Donna being unafraid to share her opinions in a society (the colonial British one) where women would not normally do so. And I am a fan of the more historical stories, where they visit Earth but in other time periods than the present, and other places than London. The Doctor and Donna sounded realistic to my ear, too. This is a good one. ( )

Doctor and Donna arrive in Calcutta, meet Mahatma Gandhi and, with his help, investigate "half-made men" who roam the streets kidnap people. This is a really good installment in the series and I really liked the locale and the descriptions of the people. The audio is abridged (for some odd reason), so I will be picking up the full paper version for sure. ( )

I love Doctor Who. particularly the Eccleston and Tennant eras, and I've come to like Matt Smith quite well. So of course I wanted to read some Who books... but I didn't enjoy this one, but perhaps it's because I didn't understand when I bought it that it is really a children's book. If I had known that, I would have approached it differently. It feels like the person who is reading it should be a five year old. I'm sorry. ( )
