This book was written as a sequel to "Why is Snot Green" and answers more of life's silly questions. It is also geared toward 8-14 year olds, but I think that some of these facts would also be appropriate for slightly younger children as well. This book covers facts on human biology, climate, speed, psychology/perception, and extremes (aka, the EXTREMES). It would be great for a variety of lessons and purposes but also simply for giving students to read to further their interest of science! ( ) http://nwhyte.livejournal.com/2664952.html It's breezily broken up into five sections, first on human biology ("The Science of Me"), then on climate, speed, the brain (psychology and perception), and biological and scientific extremes ("The BIG questions"). The second section is particularly interesting, presumably intended to help readers in lunch break debates with young climate change deniers. Anyway, strongly recommended for the next generation of science fans, along with the other books in the series, Why Is Snot Green? and Will Farts Destroy The Planet? How loud can your average middle-grader burp? Parents, librarians, and innocent bystanders are about to find out. This follow-up to the equally alluring Why is Snot Green? tackles more of life's burning questions, many submitted by real-life ten-year-olds. Could we use animal poop to make electricity? What's the world's deadliest disease? Why is your mother turning green? Part silly, part serious, and a big part scatological, How Loud Can You Burp? is destined for greatness and grossness.
