Adventures of an English gentleman at a Middle-European court by the author of Prisoner of Zenda (as advertised in this edition, though originally it was written befoire Zenda.) Surprisingly cynical, almost raunchy tone --almost closer to Royal Flash than to Zenda. The foreign princess with whom the hero becomes involved is definitely not the virtuous Flavia. ( )

A unremarkable, but pleasant, set of short stories. Only the first has any of the adventure of his more famous novels. ( )
