A trip to Venice means scouting out and visiting Carlo Scarpa's many projects, both in the city proper and on the Italian mainland. I had visited a bunch of them during a semester study in Italy in undergraduate architecture school, but on a visit to Venice years later I needed a guide to track down the projects. Hence picking up this book at one of Scarpa's masterpieces, the Quirini Stampalia museum, which famously invites water into its lowest level (unfortunately the museum has rerouted the entrance so traversing Scarpa's bridge over the canal isn't part of the experience). The projects are arranged chronologically/thematically, and combined with a thorough, scholarly approach to Scarpa's projects (for a guide, at least) the lack of good maps is excusable; thankfully addresses are provided. The list of complete works at the back of the book is handy, as it the bibliography for those, like me, who want to learn more about Scarpa. ( ) keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
