This is indeed both written and illustrated by Louis Rhead. He admiringly mentions Howard Pyle's version in the Author's preface. Rhead starts his story with Robin an adolescent and portrays him more comically than Pyle does. Though both are derived from the same root sources, they are very different. Publishers have added other illustrators using Rhead's text.
