MOVIE | Star Wars: Episode 5: The Empire Strikes Back [Dir: George Lucas] Plot Summary: The rebels seek refuge on the ice world of Hoth before they are found and ambushed by Darth Vader and the Empire. Narrowly escaping, our heroes split up as Luke Skywalker trains with Master Yoda on Dagobah as Vader pursues Han Solo, Princess Leia, and the others to draw Luke into a trap. Review: For everything the original Star Wars film does, The Empire Strikes Back does it better -- which is saying a lot, as A New Hope is already a great cinematic achievement. The tension, story, characters, design, pretty much everything is taken to the next level, and this film has become renowned for good reason because of it. Without a doubt this is the BEST Star Wars film (just not my favorite personally), but it is undeniably a flawless masterpiece in terms of cinema. The action and development of our characters' stories -- particularly Luke's training as a Jedi and the relationship between Han and Leia -- are top-notch, leading to the greatest plot twist of all time towards the film's end, setting things up for a thrilling conclusion. Just as the other films in the trilogy, The Empire Strikes Back is must-see viewing for pretty much everyone. Content: Sci-fi violence is present like the other films, but at a lesser rate than others. Characters are killed in battle and a few individuals lose limbs, with a little blood visible in one of the two instances. *July 25, 2022* Rebels run away from the evil Space Empire. Much more fast-paced and exciting than Star Wars, but I like the original better anyway. The cliff-hanger ending is kind of half-assed and pointless. I mean, they spent this movie repeatedly escaping from the full forces of the Empire, led by Darth Vader himself, and now we're supposed to worry about whether they can rescue Han from a single bounty hunter? Maybe if Jedi wasn't forced to spend its first half cleaning up Empire's loose ends, it could have had room for a story of its own. The period of this film takes place three years after the original Star Wars saga begins. It depicts the battle between the evil Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance, led by Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker. Skywalker is trained by the great Jedi Master Yoda leading up to his epic battle with Darth Vader. Excellent story line and a great sequel to the original film that started the Star Wars saga. Wonderful acting, minus a few "cheesy" scenes. Highly recommend.
