I tend to be very careful with experimenting artists - when I bought Metal Gear Solid comic I found it story-wise interesting but art was .... weird is too kind word, totally disorientating.
Here Sienkiewizcs does the same, art is sometimes very interesting but sometimes pretty psychedelic - but nevertheless it follows the story - which is pretty interesting and pretty good. And to be honest this surprised me a lot, I was not expecting this.
So, if you are in for some Ninjas, mysticism, magic, spies and all of that presented in the flavor of legendary 80's give this one a try. It is truly a gem.
Continuing with the Oedipus theme set out in Burgess' M/F (and indeed the character was mentioned in that book, I thought I'd have a break from Burgess and read this as a bit of light relief. With the ability to place herself into other's bodies, this story could get confusing. She is such a strong ninja character with the desire to "kill the beast" who happens to be president of the United States. Her mentality is questionable, and the author explores her madness well. But just like many comics, the good win and the bad lose. Still, not a bad story, with David Lynch-like twists of being possessed. ( )
While revolutionary at the time - and apparently designed to push the envelope - the book ultimately falls short in terms of sequential art and storytelling. I'm a fan of both Miller, and Bill Sienkiewicz - and I've long looked forward to reading this book, but it didn't work for me. The final product seems to be action without the action, humor without being funny, and political in a way that has lost relevance. I probably would have given it 4 stars 25 years ago. ( )

So, if you are in for some Ninjas, mysticism, magic, spies and all of that presented in the flavor of legendary 80's give this one a try. It is truly a gem.
