I have a "so-what" response upon finishing it. Plus, I found it very difficult to finish the book. I kept reading and finishing other books before finishing this one. It was thick with information, but I didn't find it at all engaging. I actually felt the book was a little cowardly, safe. ( ) This book chronicles the evolution and birth of Satan. The premise of the book is how a strict monotheistic religion explained the source and nature of evil in the world. If you have ever sought an accessible introduction to the bible: its history, what is in it, what time period it takes place in, then go out and find this book and read the first chapter. Of all the demons, monsters, fiends, and ogres to preoccupy the western imagination in literature, art, and film, no figure has been more feared--or misunderstood--than Satan. But how accurate are the popular images of Satan? How--and why--did this rather minor biblical character morph into the very embodiment of evil? T.J. Wray and Gregory Mobley guide readers on a journey to retrace Satan's biblical roots. Engaging and informative,The Birth of Satanis a must read for anyone who has ever wondered about the origins of the Devil. Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
